The basic handling skills course is the first step in your roadcraft and is designed to fit in with the graduated licensing system to enable the rider to develop their skills in a safe environment prior to undertaking the NZTA Basic handling skills assessment. On successful completion of the assessment the rider is presented with a certificate that can be used as part of the process to gain a learner licence.
The basic handling test is provided for riders who have considerable experience and can demonstrate proficiency in the use of throttle control, braking, gearbox usage, cornering and balancing skills. No training is given with this option. You will be expected to understand the testing criteria and have practiced the four exercises required for the basic handling skills test prior to attending. If this is not the case then please select one of the training options.
